Player Code of Conduct

 The following Putnam Hockey Association Player Code of Conduct is adopted from USA Hockey Official Rules and Safe Sport. Each player is expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct:

 

 _____I will respect my coaches at all times and listen carefully to all and any instructions they may give. I will not question them or talk back. I understand that they are volunteering their time to make me a better hockey player.

 _____I understand that my behavior reflects on my teammates, my coaches and the Putnam Hockey Association. I will always be on my best behavior at games, practices, hotels and other team events.

 _____If I have a legitimate concern about the program, I will inform my Parent/Guardian(s) and set up a time to meet with my Coach(es). If after meeting with my Coach(es), I feel the matter is unresolved, my Parent/Guardian(s) and I will go to my teams Board Rep and/or team manager for assistance.

 _____ I will display good sportsmanship by being humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

  _____I will respect the rink whether home or away. I will not abuse any equipment, including, but not limited to, sticks, nets, benches and boards.

 _____I will not swear or use abusive language on the bench, in the rink or at any team function.

_____I will conduct myself in a respectful manner in the locker room (home or away) which includes not recording, taking photos or videoing my teammates in the locker room. 

 _____If I receive a penalty, I will skate directly to the penalty box. I will not argue with or swear at the referee. I will leave it to my coaches and respect how they handle it. 

 _____I will conduct myself in a manner befitting a PHA player on and off the ice. Off ice behavior includes, but is not limited to, social media posts, text messages and emails. 

 _____I will respect the fundamental rights, welfare, dignity, values, opinions and worth of all participants and will be aware of cultural and individual differences including those due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language and socio-economic status. 

 _____If my team has a group chat on any platform, I will conduct myself in an appropriate manner. Inappropriate messages will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action and/or suspension/ removal from my team. 

 _____ I will respect my teammates. I will not bully any of my teammates, coaches, referees or anyone within the PHA organization. Bullying includes, but is not limited to: yelling, name calling, cursing, berating, etc.

 

Any player who cannot abide by these standards and rules or violates them may be subject to additional disciplinary actions as the Head Coach deems appropriate. Disciplinary action could include but is not limited to the following: removal from a practice or game, loss of playing time, suspension, and/or total suspension for the remainder of the season.


The executive board of Putnam Hockey Association will deal with unacceptable conduct at its sole discretion, imposing warnings, suspension, or expulsion as it deems appropriate.

ANY SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION BASED ON VIOLATIONS OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT WILL NOT BE ACCOMPANIED BY A TUITION REFUND.
